The Dorset Dirt/Gravel Dash

The Dorset Dirt/Gravel dash is an organised bikepacking adventure around Dorset either done in one go or 2 days, if you are interested in joining the official event then head over here. Its a fun little route showcasing some of the best parts of Dorset, on the shorter side too at only 100 miles meaning its a little easier. Still, Dorset has got some steep climbs along the way, but also lots of fun stuff to ride. If you are looking for an introduction into bikepacking around Dorset, this route might be the best place to start.

I have ridden it a couple of times now at different times of the year and for the most part it is all ridable all year round, the odd section might get a bit muddy in the wetter months and some of the fields get a little over grown, but it’s all manageable. I have never gone on the official ride but if you do, you can have the option to stay at a campsite for the night if you do the two-day ride. But if you are looking to just go on your own there are some great spots to set up a bivvy or a tent for the tent with some great views of the rolling hills.
