Other places on the internet that has useful Bikepacking resources

Bikepacking.com is probably the biggest resource for bike packing related information. From routes from all over the world. Kits, bikes and everything in between. Most of the bike packing routes I have done from here tend to be on the rougher side. But well worth a visit.

Cycling UK probably need no introduction, but they have been making a bunch of bike packing routes for a while now. They are a charity trying to get more people cycling and campaigning to make travelling by bike safer and more inclusive. So they have a lot for complete beginners.

Bikepackinguk.co.uk

Sussex MTB If you watched the SD 300 video a while ago, this is Jim’s site with lots of kit info and great if you want to explore the south, especially around Sussex area. If you want real user experience, it’s a good place to visit.

I’m a little bias here because Nathan from AMA keeps giving me first dibs on riding their routes, but if you are looking to join some bike packing events in wales, AMA are busy creating lots of routes.

Not so much a resource as such, but a map, Komoot a mapping website/app that has a lot of users submitting places of interest and trails and routes. It is far from perfect, but it is probably the easiest and has the cleanest UI to make and create your own routes. Just note it can sometimes get it wrong or send you on footpaths, so don’t follow blindly.

Ride with GPS is another great mapping tool to create routes on, just like Komoot its not perfect but if you ever need to reverse a route it’s better to do it through here in my opinion as Komoot often changes loads of stuff. The site does feel a bit messy in the UI department, though. Unlike Komoot though, you can download GPX from anywhere for free without being a paid member.

This is Gotoes, if you have been on a multi-day bikepacking adventures and get home then upload your GPS files to Strava or wherever, but hate that it’s all split up then you will want a site like this. You upload all your GPX, FIT files from your GPS device, then it will combine them so you have just one complete file to upload to Strava. Strava takes care of the moving vs elapsed time, don’t worry.
