East Devon Trail
The East Devon Trail by Katherine Moore This route a little over 100 miles 160Km will take you on a nice big hilly loop taking in some of the best off-road sections Devon has to offer. This route for me is a half-and-half ride, the first half as you head down the coastline is beautiful and fun and if not a little hilly at times to get your heart pumping, but the second half of this ride you will find yourself meandering around the Devon country lanes which normally have hedges either side, good for sheltering from the wind not so good for enjoying the views. So at the time I did find myself getting a little bored as I made my way back towards Exeter where this route starts and finishes.
Like I mentioned before I really like the coastal section of this ride, it is hilly but some nice gravel along here with some great views, can be a little rough in places if on a gravel bike but definitely manageable, and you will want the gravel bike for the later roads sections of this ride. It does also just touch on the Dorset boarder near Lyme Regis, If you have time to stop off at the beach here, get some fish and chips. I got there too early, nothing was open, so I just enjoyed the sun rise. Most of the off-road trails are ridable if you have the energy, however there are some sections one narrow bridal way, where you get to practice your tight rope balance as you head over numerous little wood bridges.
Its a good little short trip probably best in the summer for a little overnighter could probably drag it out for an extra night.
