Cinelli Mash Histogram 2012

Not much to say about this old beauty, mainly because of the lack thereof of parts. The Cinelli mash histogram, I have always loved riding fixed gear bikes. Simple quiet and never in the right gear. The first time I set eyes on this bike I knew I had to have it so when one came up for sale in my size XL think that was 60 cm I snapped it up. I was actually away at the time cycling the coast of France Spain and Portugal, so I called up a good friend and asked if I could send it to him for when I finally returned. Thanks, John (he said, of course) if not I might have had to let this one slip by. I’m glad I managed to get it, though, because i just absolutely loved the paint on this particular mash.

The Frame as you would expect is built for the track, so it is fast and snappy on the streets. I used to commute around 40 miles (ca. 64 km) a day on this bike, and it never missed a beat, well not until I wiped out coming round a roundabout one night and dented the chainstay. That was finally what meant I had to say goodbye to this bike. It was a sad day.

The bike was set up as follows

Frame - Cinelli Mash Histogram 2012 Xl

Rear wheel - Halo Areo track

Front wheel - Zipp 303 carbon clincher or Reynolds Assault

Crankset - SRAM omnium 165mm 48t (16t sprocket rear) Always wanted the silver cranks

Seatpost - Thomson 31.6

saddle - San marco

Stem - 3T 120mm

Handlebars - 3T

Tyres - Normally Hardshell continental gatorskins

the gear ratio on this bike was a 48/16 which if you are familiar with track bike means I only got one skid patch, I really like the ratio, but obviously it is not optimal if you need to stop lots as you will burn through the tyres, luckily most of my commute did really require too much breaking so it meant I could get a couple of months before swapping or replacing the tyres. There is something so satisfying about riding a fixed gear bike, and it’s something I would love to build again in the future. Maybe I should build a bikepacking fixed gear bike up for the LOLS. I did many 100 plus mile days on this bike too, it’s just a bike that made me smile every time II rode it.
