Alpkit Skytrail 14

Little red alpkit bag on the way to the lowest pub

That little red bag that I’m always getting asked why I wear a backpack it must be so uncomfortable, well not really but yeah I would rather not wear one, but this is the alpkit skytrail 14 the one I do wear, and I wear it purely because of cameras and batteries, them batteries are terrible in the cold so to be able to film my adventures all through the year i need to keep them warm, and having them batteries close to my body keeps them warm enough to function normally.

The skytrail is a pretty nifty small bag as well so it’s not too bulky and really just a day bag for your MTB adventures over multiway bike packing expedition but works well if you don’t mind carrying a little weight on your back. And has a nice amount of pockets that keep the camera gear a little organised, One zipped mesh pocket that’s where the drone controller sits then two little back pockets one is for the drone itself (mavic mini SE) it fits in the slightly bigger pocket of the two then the other normally has a powerbank and some spare SD cards. This bag is compatible with a bladder that’s not included when you buy this bag, however I do not use that section for that I use the compartment for the bladder for all the batteries there is a fair amount, they sit in a little organiser right up against my back then keeping them warm. The main pocket, a decent size, would for a decent waterproof jacket and maybe a warmer jacket at the same time. For me, it just has a further two more cameras, the camera on the tripod and the big camera.

The bag will last for a long time I have no doubts about that, it has been on my back for quite some time now and has no damage, the only annoying thing about this bag in my opinion is its not waterproof and doesn’t come with a cover, it doesn’t seem to be a particularly heavy shower for the water to seep through. Ohh, and the other annoying thing (it’s probably just because I’m tall, but the side hip pockets are so awkward to get to while actually wearing the bag.

As for the sweaty back situation it performs as good as any other bag, the more weight you carry the sweatier your back get, the weight with the camera gear isn’t too heavy so its not too bad for me, it is a comfortable bag though as far a cycling backpacks go.
